The "Solution" to Marvel's Daredevil Problem The "Solution" to Marvel's Daredevil Problem

05 Dec , 2018

You've seen the news floating around — Netflix isn’t renewing Daredevil for a fourth season. Therefore, as far as we know, Daredevil is over for now. Rumors are circulating that it may or may not end up on Disney+. Until Marvel or Disney officially confirm the “he said she said,” I’m going to say it’s canceled for now (DARN YOU, NETFLIX!!!!). But there’s a solution in all this, think about it — Hulu.

I know what you’re thinking, Hulu?! They’re Netflix’s rival! How could they?! But hey, one door closes and another one trusts me. There is plenty of solid (solid bro, for real) reasons for putting it on Hulu:

Disney+ is family friendly

Disney+ reportedly won’t add R-rated content. According to the New York Times, Disney+ is aimed at families and providing content suitable for kids. So Kingpin crushing heads into car doors doesn’t exactly sound like it’s for the kiddos. If I won’t show my grandma, it ain’t goin’ on Disney+.

Sidenote — Disney+’s focus also seems completely different. Lots of spinoff shows and characters from the MCU getting their own runs and the Mandalorians getting their own services screams focus shift. I can just see the Disney+ execs making the “yiiiikes” face and hitting us with a “hard pass!”

Sorry folks, my assumption is no, Daredevil won’t go to Disney+. Unless they change these hallways fights to tickle fests, it ain’t happenin’.

Marvel already has shows on Hulu

Let’s think about this! Marvel’s got The Runaways, The Gifted, Cloak and Dagger, and Agents of Shield on Hulu. Most of these properties are part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, so with this combination comes crossovers. I think it’d be cool to see characters from all these shows in Avengers 4. I’m reaching pretty far, but Marvel and Disney MAKE IT HAPPEN!

The only downside is how far these characters have come to not mention the other universes is concerning. Daredevil Season 4 would be a little awkward if he ran into the Struckers out of nowhere.

Disney needs content for Hulu

Disney owns 60 percent of Hulu and TechCrunch reported Disney’s intention to expand on that deal. What better way to step up your game than adding your flagship shows all to one platform? Don’t pull previous seasons off Netflix, but dump all of the new content onto Hulu and flex that ownership!

What do you think? Could these shows perform well and find a new home on Hulu? Should Disney just drop them? Let me know down in the comments!

Good call, it’s easy to lump them all together.

Correction: The Gifted is FoXmen, not MCU.
