Geekly Goods Box Office Preview November 30th Geekly Goods Box Office Preview November 30th

30 Nov , 2018

So now that Thanksgiving's out of the way, MORE movies are sprinkling into theaters! Not sure what to see? No worries, we got you covered in our Box Office Preview!

Possession of Hannah Grace

In a slightly confusing holiday release, Possession of Hannah Grace actually looks like a really solid horror/thriller.  Shay Mitchell (You might know here from Heiresses or Pretty Little Liars) stars as a troubled cop who has just been released from rehab and takes a graveyard shift (get it?) in the city morgue.  And then...some weird things start to happen. The trailers have done a pretty good job of keeping us all guessing but if you are looking for a spooky change of pace, I think this is your movie!

Anna and the Apocalypse

This is a movie I could not be more excited for, and I really think it will be the sleeper/cult hit of the season!  This British zombie flick brings a nice little twist on the genre by making it a musical! And what’s better than zombies and choreography?!  In all honesty, this does look like a really well crafted and fun movie that should bring back all the memories of Shaun of the Dead. I guess this is the weekend for horror releases??

But the real story of this weekend is which of the two hits from the Thanksgiving weekend will repeat at the top of the list; Wreck it Ralph: Breaks the Internet or Creed 2? This weekend doesn’t really have any smash hit potentials coming out so the bulk of the box office will probably be made up of these two juggernauts. Wreck it Ralph is the clear favorite to win the weekend, I mean what else are the kids going to watch?? And honestly, it is a really great and heartwarming movie. If you haven’t seen our review, hop on over to our youtube to check out our review!  But don’t sleep on Creed 2! This may have been missed by quite a few people due to a turkey hangover, so don’t be surprised if both movies pass $100 million this weekend!

Bonus: The Ballad of Buster Scruggs

Also, have to give a special shout-out to The Ballad of Buster Scruggs!!  It’s not a new release per se, but if you aren’t headed to the Box Office this weekend, this a movie you have to see and it’s streaming on Netflix! The Coen Brothers (The Big Lebowski, Fargo, No Country for Old Men) brings another rockstar cast and incredible story. Starring (and I’m not even exaggerating here) Tim Blake Nelson, Liam Neeson, James Franco, Tom Waits, Zoe Kazan, Brendan Gleeson, Ralph Ineson and a whole heck of incredible character actors. The movie is broken into a series of different segments that spin a fun and visually arresting tale through the Wild West. This is a must watch!! Or maybe I’m just playing too much Red Dead Redemption 2...nahhhhh that can’t be it!

What are you guys going to see this weekend?  Anything I missed? Drop us a comment and let us know!
