Geekly Goods Box Office Preview For April 26th Geekly Goods Box Office Preview For April 26th

26 Apr , 2019

It’s finally here! Avengers: Endgame has landed and it is possibly the biggest thing to happen in movies ever?!  I have a pretty good idea where each one of you will be this weekend but I will be covering all the other options as well just in case you want to catch a double feature!

JUST KIDDING! This is all Avengers all the time!  In a smart move by every other movie studio, no other major releases are set to open this weekend with the only two movies opening up being The White Crow (starring Ralph Fiennes) and Body at Brighton Rock, both of which look high quality.

Now you might be saying “Awwww Stu, you're just being a fanboy and you don’t want to cover any REAL movies” But here’s the thing, those movies are opening up at a combined 7 theaters ACROSS THE WHOLE COUNTRY! Yeah, talk about a soft opening. It seems like every movie studio exec gave up and sacrificed this weekend to our mouse-eared overlords. Which, to be fair, is totally fine and justified. Give the King (or Queen) its time!

Avengers: Endgame

This is a no spoiler kind of situation (partly because I haven’t seen it just yet) but there is a really big push here to not spoil Endgame! Seriously people, just don’t do it. It is NOT funny and this is something we have all been waiting on for like 21 movies so don’t ruin the fun of this just for a quick laugh! This is the real deal people.

This is everything any comic book fan could have wanted and many people are starting to throw around the phrase “best comic book movie ever made” (sorry Dark Knight…). I don’t really know what else to say on this one guys if you haven’t bought your tickets yet go now! It is already breaking presales records and selling out showings so HURRY!

The Predictions

There already isn’t any doubt who will win the weekend, but the real question is how big can it go??  The upside has it clearing over 1 BILLION dollars worldwide this weekend. Yes, that’s billion with a B. I think it has a real chance but Sunday is the key element.

If they can get some people coming back for a second viewing in the same weekend, this can definitely hit that mark!  Now for anyone else in the top 5, they will essentially be fighting for the scraps and will serve people who are looking for something other than Avengers. La Llorona should see a decent little second weekend with some holdovers from past weekends following below.

Top 5

  1. Avengers: Endgame
  2. The Curse of La Llorona
  3. Shazam
  4. Captain Marvel
  5. Dumbo

What do you guys think? Did I get it right? Did I mess it up terribly?  Let us know in the comments! And as always check us out on YouTube for all the reviews you could ever want and hit us up on Instagram @geeklygoods

Here are our Pre-Endgame predictions, how close were we?
