Geekly Goods Box Office Preview For April 19th Geekly Goods Box Office Preview For April 19th

19 Apr , 2019

Alright movie buffs, lovers, critics, fans! We’re back for ANOTHER Box Office Preview! Brought to you by Leo this week! There’s not a lot of new movies coming up this week since we’re all excited for… AVENGERS: ENDGAME!!! But that doesn’t mean we don’t have a few ones to look forward this weekend… sorta…!

Let’s JUMP IN!

THE CURSE OF LA LLORNA

“Ignoring the eerie warning of a troubled mother suspected of child endangerment, a social worker and her own small kids are soon drawn into a frightening supernatural realm.” - IMDb

Wooooo…. Another Conjuring movie. So exciting... Hey, I’m not here to trash movies or anything… but did anybody see The Nun? Seems like these get more and more average the more they come out, but hey maybe this could be entertaining and fun? Michael Chaves (The Maiden) is signed on to direct with Linda Cardellini set to star. He’s got some experience with horror but not quite blockbuster level so… we’ll see? I’m a big fan of those first two Conjuring movies.

Sandy Schaefer from Screenrant wrote about it  “...a lack of originality and substance, The Curse of La Llorona makes for an entertaining funhouse ride of a movie set in The Conjuring universe,” so while it could be another typical Conjuring franchise entry, sounds like it could be fun! Let’s keep the train rolling…

SOMEONE GREAT

After a devastating break up on the eve of her cross-country move, Jenny enjoys one last NYC adventure with her two best pals. Someone Great is a romantic comedy about love, loss, growth and the everlasting bond of female friendship. - IMDb

This one’s for RomCom fans! Exclusively on Netflix, Someone Great sounds like a super fun movie for a night in with some friends, a glass of wine, and tasty snacks! And this is STACKED with great talent; Rosario Dawson, Gina Rodriguez, Brittany Snow, DeWanda Wise, I mean it’s going to be JUICY with this lineup ya’ll!

Netflix has been pumping these originals out like hotcakes. While some might see it as a danger to the movie industry, I see it as another great way for us to watch movies. With originals like Bird Box (not my fave but it was popular) Bandersnatch, and Unicorn Store Netflix is destroying it with these films. Keep em comin’!

THE PREDICTIONS

Things are pretty closed up this week! It’s all for Avengers: Endgame, which will destroy the Box Office and knock everything over. I’m talking possibly the highest grossing of all time (without inflation). Shazam, Hellboy and Pet Sematary are still showing so they’ve got a good chance here. Here are my predictions for the weekend:

  1. Shazam!
  2. The Curse of La Llorna
  3. Hellboy
  4. Little
  5. Pet Sematary

What do you think? I could be on the money, but I could be way off! Ya’ll let me know down in the comments!
