Batman Beyond has been in everyone’s mind as of late. With a bunch of rumors and theories coming around. In this article, let us come up with our Fan Casting and Crew Casting for Batman Beyond.
Terry McGinnis (Batman) – Ludi Lin
Many fan-cast Terry McGinnis as a white male, and that is fine, but I always thought Terry would be awesome as an Asian-American. When I saw that Ross Butler wanted to become Terry McGinnis, I immediately thought, “That would be dope!” He is in Shazam, so I decided to look who else would be a good fit for the role, and I came across Ludi Lin, and honestly, he would be a better fit in the Batman role. Ludi Lin has worked on one of the most famous DCEU films of all time Aquaman, he has worked on Saban’s Power Rangers, which I thought was a fantastic homage. Ludi Lin has been on Black Mirror: Striking Vipers and is also working on 2021 Mortal Kombat.
Bruce Wayne (Batman) – Michael Keaton
Let us be honest with ourselves. If Michael Keaton asked to come back, we would be excited even if his previous Batman films were not connected. Michael Keaton is just a fantastic actor so much that he can play almost any character that he wants, and for me, he would be perfect as an old Bruce Wayne. No, he does not have to helm the Bat-suit anymore. The point of the movie is to pass down the baton.
Dana Tan – Kristina Tonteri-Young
I am bringing in some new blood to the ‘Batman Beyond’ franchise! Kristina Tonteri-Young has only four acting credits; two of them are in post-production (‘Outside The Wiren,’ ‘A Gift From Bob‘), one is filming (‘The Swan‘). But, there is one that ultimately made me think she was a fantastic actor, and that is ‘Warrior Nun‘ on Netflix. Kristina has this sense of emotion that the actors did not have in ‘Warrior Nun‘ that I instantly thought she should play Dana Tan in ‘Batman Beyond,’ not as a woman in distress but as a strong female character.
Derek Powers (Villain)- Tobin Bell
Tobin Bell, as an actor, has always been captivating, especially in the ‘Saw’ films. Even if some of the ‘Saw’ films have been bad, the one consistent thing is his acting prowess. Tobin Bell would be able to transform the character of Darek Powers much like what Micheal Shannon did with General Zod.
Cast – Casting
Gareth Evans has a great sense of composition and editing, especially with fght scenes. Now, what he needs to do is branch out and do something high budget, just this one time and Batman Beyond would be perfect. Just imagine seeing his sense of action mixed within the beautiful yet grotesque cyberpunk world of Batman Beyond. That would be crazy!
Writer – Greta Geriwig
Okay, please hear me out. I know that Greta Gerwig is a director, but she is a beautiful writer as well. The way Greta Gerwig writes her character in Lady Bird and Little Women are fantastic. I genuinely believe that she and Gareth Evan can make a superhero movie transcend its genre, much like James Mangold’s ‘Logan‘ and Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Dark Knight.’
Cinematographer – Jarin Blaschke
I have only seen to movies that Jarin Blaschke shot, but those two movies had a significant impact on me. Those movies were ‘Lighthouse’ directed by Robert Eggers and ‘The Which,’ also directed by Robert Eggers. I am just a fan of how he uses aspect ratio and the use of dull colors, but I would like to see Jarin Blaschke branch out and work with vibrant colors within the cyberpunk world of ‘Batman Beyond.’
Composer – Marcin Przybylowicz
Yes, I know that Marcin Przybylowicz is a video game composer, but that does not defeat the fact that he is a great composer and his music is compelling. Marcin Przybylowicz is working on ‘Cyberpunk 2077’ and ‘The Witcher.’ I also wanted to choose someone completely different to get a new feel for a new batman and a new enviroment, which Marcin Przybylowicz would be great for!
Conclusion
If I were to be honest, I would rather Batman Beyond be an animated feature film, but if we did get a live-action film this would be my casting for both cast members and crew members. If you were to cast who would you like to be in the film? Let me know in the comments below.
